Some days, it’s hard to imagine that we could ever love Taco Bell harder. It’s one of those fast food chains that always keeps you coming back for more with its staple menu items and new innovations. And, let’s be honest, the Bell is constantly churning out new menu items.
At Live Más Live 2025 in early March, the chain announced plans to introduce dozens of new menu items this year—and it’s certainly been delivering. So far, we’ve seen the Crispy Chicken Strips, Crispy Chicken Taco, and Crispy Chicken Burrito come to menus, as well as the Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla, Flamin’ Hot Burrito, and Southwest Hot Chicken Crunchwrap hit test markets. While those menu items were all confirmed to be on menus by the end of 2025, Taco Bell is now releasing its first test kitchen innovation, which was only just a dream at Live Más Live.
On June 17, Taco Bell began testing a new Steak & Cheese Tacodilla.

During Live Más Live, the chain teased some menu items that the test kitchen had recently been playing around with, like taquitos, poutine-style Nacho Fries, and Salted Caramel & Toffee Cream Empanada Bites.
One of those menu fantasies was something called a Tacodilla, which was described as an oversized, grilled taco-like quesadilla. Originally, Taco Bell planned for it to be filled with carne asada, cheese, and guajillo pepper sauce.
In this Steak & Cheese Tacodilla test, the chain has landed on a tacodilla filled with marinated steak, cheese, and a “bold and savory red chile sauce.” The “tacodilla” itself is an extra-long shell made with a mixture of flour and corn. It’s grilled to create a lightly crispy, yet still chewy outer texture with a gooey, cheesy interior.
The Steak & Cheese Tacodilla is being offered now à la carte or as part of the Steak & Cheese Tacodilla Combo, which includes the Tacodilla, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a large fountain drink.
With Taco Bell announcing market tests practically once a week, you likely know the drill by now. The chain is currently testing the new Steak & Cheese Tacodilla in select Detroit, Michigan, markets for a limited time. Once concluded, and if fans enjoyed the Tacodilla, there’s a chance Taco Bell will bring the menu item to restaurants nationwide.
Detroit has gotten quite a few Taco Bell menu tests—including the Crispy Chicken Tenders and Cheesy Dipping Burritos, both of which have been added to menus. While its track record is pretty good, we are still awaiting word about the Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla that it tested earlier this year. However, two out of three seems like pretty good odds to us.
