Starbucks Is Bringing Back the Menu Item Fans Say Is the Best They’ve ‘Ever Had in Their Life’

We know that we like to joke that restaurant chains giveth and then taketh away when it comes to some menu items. However, Starbucks does seem to enjoy switching up its menu offerings pretty often. And we aren’t just talking about its seasonal menu changes—though we’ll admit it does sting to see a seasonal drink that we loved not return the following year. 

Earlier this year, Starbucks axed 13 drinks from its menus as part of its company-wide goal to discontinue 30 percent of its menu items by the end of 2025. The chain’s CEO, Brian Niccol, said the discontinuations are meant to “optimize” the menu and provide the “right” offerings—but that doesn’t mean they don’t sting a little. 

Fans were sad to see drinks, like the Iced Matcha Lemonade and Java Chip Frappuccino, go, but many were absolutely devastated when Starbucks quietly discontinued a bakery favorite.

In April, Starbucks announced that it was discontinuing its Double Chocolate Brownie due to low sales. However, after the news broke—and the brownie officially departed menus in May—fans began rallying around the bakery treat. 

“The one thing you can count on is Starbucks discontinuing the good products,” wrote an upset customer on Reddit.

Now, after seeing the customer reaction, Starbucks has reversed its decision.

Starbucks’ Double Chocolate Brownie Is Headed Back to Menus

The chain teased the Double Chocolate Brownie’s return on Instagram on June 27, with alleged employees confirming the news on Reddit. Shortly after discontinuing the brownie, Starbucks shared with its team members that it would return by the end of June, according to a Reddit user. 

Now, the Double Chocolate Brownie is officially back on Starbucks’ site and app—however, it might not be back at your local coffee shop just yet. One Reddit user spotted the brownie in Washington state, with the caption “I thought these were gone forever.”

“Yeah, they discontinued them but then changed their minds, stores should start receiving them again over the next week or so,” commented another user. 

It’s not clear when exactly the brownies will be back at Starbucks locations nationwide, but one thing’s for sure: Fans are ecstatic. 

“The best return in history,” wrote an Instagram user on Starbucks’ post. 

“Best brownies I’ve ever had in my life,” commented another fan.

Brownie fans, our advice to you is to check your Starbucks app for the most up-to-date information on when your local coffee shop will have the Double Chocolate Brownie back in stock.

If this has taught us anything, it’s that Starbucks is willing to bring back fan-loved items, as also evidenced by the returning raspberry syrup. So, let this be my official plea: With nearly four months until the holiday season, I’d love to see the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha back on menus this year.
