Key Takeaways
- Red Lobster just added five new ways to customize its popular seafood boils.
- The menu additions include a brand-new seasoning.
Red Lobster has been around since 1968, and the chain has garnered a huge fan base over the years. With its beloved Cheddar Bay Biscuits and a wide array of seafood options, Red Lobster continues to make a name for itself in the restaurant industry. Even so, there’s always room for improvement, and the chain definitely takes that to heart by adjusting its menu periodically.
Last month, Red Lobster released its summer menu with 10 new additions, and seafood lovers on social media were quick to offer feedback. While the vast majority of comments were wildly positive, others had constructive criticism—mainly regarding the lack of seasoning.
Following that viral response, Red Lobster has responded, and the chain is giving fans exactly what they asked for with a couple of new surprises, too.
Red Lobster Adds New Seasonings and Meat to Its Seafood Boil Menu
In an Instagram video featuring the chain’s CEO, Damola Adamolekun, Red Lobster announced that its seafood boils are now even more customizable. Where there were initially only three seasoning options (Roasted Garlic Butter, Cajun Butter, or Old Bay seasoning) for the viral dish, the restaurant has expanded to include new spice levels, new meat mix-ins, and a brand-new seasoning flavor.
In the video, Damola begins by thanking fans and stating, “We heard you in the comments.” Then he gives a heated update: “We’re turning it up with your choice of Original, Spicy, and Extra Spicy.”
In addition to spice level, a fourth flavor has also joined the seafood boil lineup: Old Bay & Parmesan. And for fans more familiar with a Lowcountry boil, customers can now add Cajun Sausage to any seafood boil. These flavorful additions mean there are plenty of unique combinations to try, giving you the perfect excuse to make multiple visits.
And with this latest menu revision, Red Lobster devotees are excited again—especially with the CEO’s direct response on social media. “That’s gotta be the FASTEST customer satisfaction turnaround in corporate history!!!” said one fan.
Another fan had a humorous response, exclaiming, “I’m allergic to shellfish and thinking of risking it to support my man.” While we don’t recommend taking any chances with allergies, we can certainly appreciate the enthusiasm for the new menu.
If you haven’t already tried these dishes, now is the perfect time to head to your local Red Lobster. Even if seafood boils aren’t your thing, there are plenty of options to choose from, including some of the other recent Crabfest additions such as Salmon Oscar and Crabby Stuffed Mushrooms.
