One thing we love about Popeyes—besides its delicious chicken, of course—is that the brand isn’t afraid to ruffle a few fast food feathers. We’ll never forget the iconic “chicken wars” that ensued when the restaurant released its chicken sandwich, instantly rivaling the best at the time, Chick-fil-A.
Ever since then, Popeyes has laid a little lower, releasing new versions of its chicken sandwich, wings, and even seafood. That is, until it released its pickle menu in April—complete with a pickle-glazed sandwich, pickle lemonade, and fried pickles.
After an internet-breaking pickle menu run, Popeyes went back to its messy ways with three new menu items that take a jab at McDonald’s. That’s right—Popeyes added Chicken Wraps to its menu.
Popeyes Adds New Chicken Wraps To Menus
Popeyes
To be fair, Popeyes isn’t the first chain to add crispy chicken wraps to menus. However, with McDonald’s bringing its fan-loved Snack Wraps back—Popeyes dropping its own wraps before the Golden Arches may sting a little.
On June 2, Popeyes added three new Chicken Wraps to its menu. The wraps are available in Classic, Spicy, and Honey Mustard and are made with crispy chicken strips, lettuce, shredded cheese, and pickles in a warm tortilla that the chain says is inspired by the flavors of its iconic biscuit. Much like the sandwiches, each wrap has a sauce, too. The Classic Wrap features traditional mayo, the Spicy Wrap gets a kick from spicy mayo, and the Honey Mustard Wrap features sweet honey mustard, of course.
Popeyes new Chicken Wraps are typically just $3.99 each, giving you that Louisiana flavor without straining your wallet. However, to really egg Ronald McDonald on in this wrap battle, Popeyes is giving its customers free Chicken Wraps.
From July 10 to 13, customers can get a free Chicken Wrap with any purchase of $5 or more through the Popeyes app or site. Customers can use the code “PopeyesWrapBattle” to score their free wrap in the flavor they choose.
In addition to the wraps, the chain introduced new lemonade and iced tea to the menu. While not as out of the box as pickle-flavored lemonade, its new blueberry lemonade and sweet tea may be just as exciting. The drinks are available as Blueberry Lemonade (chilled or frozen), Blueberry Cane Sweet Tea, and Blueberry Cane Unsweet Tea—all perfect options to wash down your savory chicken wrap.
This fast food battle is heating up just as quickly as the weather. But, as foodies, this is our kind of “wrap” battle.
