Papa Johns Just Brought Back Its Most Requested Pizza

We are deep into grilling season, which likely means you’ve perfected your go-to hamburger recipe and hot dog toppings. It also might mean that, thanks to your calendar full of outdoor barbecues, your traditional pizza ordering has fallen to the wayside. 

But, what if you could get the best of pizza and summer grilling in one? It may sound like a stretch, but it has been done before. Papa Johns has previously turned the classic hamburger into a pizza pie—and fans love it. 

Papa Johns’ Cheesy Burger Pizza is one of the brand’s most beloved menu items. After it went away in 2020, more than 500,000 fans begged for its return, which Papa Johns obliged last summer.

“Omg I dream of the cheeseburger pizza and burger sauce like once a week. I do not think I can go on in life if they do not bring that pizza back, like it was so…good,” wrote a Reddit user. 

Well, let’s make those dreams a reality because Papa John’s Cheesy Burger Pizza is officially back on menus.

Papa Johns’ Cheesy Burger Pizza Is Back

The all-time-favorite pizza is topped with a signature burger sauce, beef, diced tomatoes, dill pickles, and mozzarella cheese—and, of course, served with the chain’s classic Special Garlic Sauce and a pepperoncini. For those feeling bold, Papa Johns recommends adding bacon, extra cheese, or jalapeños to the pizza for a new twist.

Last year, when the pizza chain brought back the Cheesy Burger Pizza for a limited time, it also introduced two new burger mash-ups. Unfortunately, the Cheesy Burger Papadia and Bacon Cheesy Burger Papa Bites are not making a comeback, but the pizza seems to stand on its own quite strongly.

Fans call the Cheesy Burger Pizza Papa Johns’ “best specialty pizza” and say they wish the chain would keep it “as a permanent item.” But, we have bad news for those fans, as Papa Johns is only releasing the Cheesy Burger Pizza for a limited time this summer. 

There’s no telling just how long the Cheesy Burger Pizza will stay on the menu, so you might want to skip the traditional burgers at this weekend’s cookout and opt for Papa Johns delivery instead.
