When you haul out the big, heavy pots from the bottom cabinet, you usually know what’s to come: something warm, cozy, comforting—and often a little old-school. After all, many of the best one-pot meals are recipes that have been passed down for generations, straight from grandma’s kitchen.
Le Creuset has always carried that same sense of timelessness. Maybe it’s because the cookware is famously sturdy—so well-made that once you buy a piece, you can count on it being with you for a lifetime. Or maybe it’s because the design itself has hardly changed in a century (aside from the evolving rainbow of color palettes, of course).
But now, for the first time in years, Le Creuset is reimagining its iconic silhouette. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the brand is introducing a new collection created as a tribute to the cooks and cookware of the past.
Le Creuset Introduces the New Modern Heritage Collection
Le Creuset
Today, Le Creuset is unveiling the Modern Heritage Collection, a set that “bridges past with present, and celebrates 100 years of iconic design, artistry, and style,” the company said in a press release. And while the collection is brand-new, it carries the charm of something you might find in a vintage shop.
Of course, the quality you expect from Le Creuset hasn’t changed. The enameled cast iron cookware is still built to last a lifetime (maybe even two), with all the cooking benefits that make these pieces so beloved: excellent heat retention, even heat distribution, and the ability to handle extreme temperatures. The non-reactive surface also makes them perfect for acidic ingredients—like tomatoes, wine, or citrus—without affecting the flavor of the final dish.
The difference is in the details. Instead of the brand’s usual rounded-square handles, these pieces have scalloped square side handles that feel distinctly retro. And where you’d normally see a stainless-steel knob on the lid, the Modern Heritage line features looped handles for a more old-fashioned look (not to mention easier grip). These touches give the cookware a subtle vintage feel while keeping it fully functional for a modern kitchen.

Here’s a closer look at the collection:
- Modern Heritage Round Dutch Oven: The anchor point of any set. This dish is great for slow-cooking, braising, roasting, and baking. Grab it now for $420.
- Modern Heritage Round Braiser: With a wide base to prevent overcrowding, this piece is ideal for shallow frying, steaming, and going straight from stovetop to table. Available for $380.
- Modern Heritage Oval Gratin: Perfect for casseroles, roasting, and baking, this dish features a low profile that encourages crisp, golden tops. Purchase it for $160.
The Modern Heritage Collection will be available in Le Creuset’s most beloved colorways, including Cerise, Flame, Artichaut, Sea Salt, Oyster, Brioche, and Matte White.
Prices range from $160 to $420—an investment, yes, but one that makes sense when you consider how long these pieces will last. These are the kinds of pots and pans meant to stick around as long as your family recipes—and to add just as much charm to the table.
