Krispy Kreme Is Bringing Back a ‘Rare’ Fan-Favorite Doughnut for a Limited Time

Nowadays, it seems Krispy Kreme is known for launching new, limited-edition doughnut flavors monthly—like the Fourth of July collection available now—and handing out amazing savings to customers.

However, while it’s hard to resist a cheesecake-stuffed doughnut or an adorably decorated Pacman-inspired doughnut, we can’t forget what put Krispy Kreme on the map: The Original Glazed Doughnut. 

No matter how many specialty doughnuts we eat, we can’t help but go back to the OG every once in a while. And we’re not the only ones—celebrity chef David Chang and “Today” weatherman Al Roker have both shared their love for a classic glazed doughnut in the past. Plus, now that we know the official way to reheat those day-old glazed beauties, our morning coffee and doughnut routine is unstoppable.

The classic glazed doughnut is ever an icon, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten Krispy Kreme’s other glazed offerings: the strawberry- and chocolate-glazed doughnuts.

Earlier this year Krispy Kreme brought back the bright pink strawberry-glazed doughnut for a limited time after fans “unlocked” it in its “Pacman Power-Up.” Now, it’s bringing back an even more rare glazed favorite.

Krispy Kreme Brings Back Chocolate Glazed Doughnut

Krispy Kreme’s Chocolate Glazed Doughnut was originally released in 2017 to celebrate the solar eclipse, then brought back in 2018 as part of World Chocolate Day. After a six-year hiatus, Krispy Kreme brought it back last summer—and, thanks to fans’ excitement, it’s back again.

To celebrate World Chocolate Day, which falls on July 7, the Chocolate Glazed Doughnut will make a brief comeback. And this year, it received an upgrade. For the first time, the doughnut, which is lightly coated in a rich chocolate glaze, will be made with Hershey’s chocolate.

The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut will return for one day only, Monday, July 7. It’s likely the only time the Chocolate Glazed Doughnut will be on menus in 2025, so if you want to get your chocolate fix for the year, you’ll need to take advantage now. 

The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut will be available at all Krispy Kreme locations nationwide for pickup or delivery. While you can always order a doughnut à la carte, Krispy Kreme is rewarding those who buy a dozen Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts with a 50% off deal. When you buy any dozen doughnuts—including Chocolate Glazed or a mix-and-match of your favorites—you can get a second Chocolate Glazed dozen for half off.

After a busy Fourth of July weekend, we think we just found the perfect Monday morning pick-me-up.
