Kit Kat Just Released a First-Of-Its-Kind Shape—We Tried It First

We can always count on The Hershey Company to make our holidays memorable. From Kissmas Tree Kisses to Reese’s Carrots, the candy giant has all the festive treats on lock. Arguably, however, no occasion is bigger for the brand than Halloween. So much so that it has dubbed the season “Hersheyween.”

We’ve seen the announcements flooding our feeds this week with what’s in store for Hersheyween this year, and lucky for us, we got an early preview of the goodies. Along with the snackable bags of Reese’s Mini Pumpkins we can’t stop eating, Hershey announced a new Kit Kat shape…and—in my opinion—it might just be better than the original.

We Tried the New Kit Kat Counts Shape for Halloween

The Kit Kat Counts feature a unique, larger shape that took some serious research and development, according to the Hershey team. It was designed to deliver a bigger, wider wafer for enhanced texture and even more chocolaty goodness. And the hard work paid off. For me, the new spooky shape delivers the perfect ratio of creamy chocolate to crispy wafer crunch—plus, the Count head is so satisfying to bite off.

Editor Bailey Fink agrees, adding: “They’re super fun and adorable—I really like the larger wafer, it adds even more crunch to the candy. I might go as far as to say this is the perfect Kit Kat ratio.”

“I love the bigger wafer and feel like the chocolate has better crunch,” shares Senior Editor Courtney Kassel, while also noting, “The shapes are such a fun switch-up to the usual—I just know they’ll be the first to disappear with our trick-or-treaters.”

Flavor aside, the detail of the shape is impressive, as well, from the pointy fangs to the Kit Kat-branded cape. They’re almost too cute to eat (almost).

Individually wrapped in both snack-size and jumbo bags, this version offers a distinctive twist on the classic Kit Kat experience. They’ll also be available in an assortment bag with returning favorites such as Witch’s Brew, Ghost Toast, and the OGs, as well as a combo bag with Reese’s Bats.

If this is a preview of things to come, we’re in for a fabulous and festive Halloween—or should we say Hersheyween. Now, we just have to make sure we don’t eat them all before Oct. 31.
