Heat returns to New Orleans with high rain chances later in the week

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – This week in weather will be the tale of two patterns, really hot at first and then quite stormy.

MORE FIRST ALERT WEATHER

We’re in the hot part of the pattern and highs will soar into the middle to upper 90s through Wednesday. Expect heat index values to get up there possibly as hot as 110 to 112. Rain chances remain minimal for now.

Things totally flip late in the week as rain chances come back in a big way leading to much cooler temperatures and a wet period. We’ll be watching for heavy rains by then.

Highs soar for a few days but a total pattern flip turns us stormy come late week.

In the tropics the National Hurricane Center has highlighted a tropical wave approaching the Caribbean. It likely doesn’t have a chance to do much. Don’t be shocked if the area moving into the Gulf associated with our higher rain chances this week gets highlighted.
