Pickle-flavored everything seems to be everywhere, and as a dill-obsessed girl myself, I am absolutely ecstatic. With over 321 million pickle-licious posts on social media (and counting), pickles are clearly having their moment in the sun. From tangy TikTok trends, herbaceous product collabs, and dill-icious fast food menu items, the pickle trend is here to stay. But at what point does pickle-everything go too far?
When you’re craving instant ramen or want a comforting and convenient dinner, you might be reaching for the Cup Noodles classics: beef, chicken, and shrimp. But Nissin Foods USA, aka the brand behind the cups of microwave ramen you probably know and love, is debuting a new flavor for summer—and it’s kind of a big dill.
Cup Noodles Launches All-New Dill Pickle Ramen
Just in time for summer, the iconic Cup Noodles is getting a punchy upgrade with a flavor no ramen brand has ever tackled before: pickle ramen.
Combining the sharp zing of dill pickles with the savory satisfaction of noodles, Cup Noodles’ Dill Pickle is meeting consumers’ ever-growing pickle obsession with an unexpected ramen experience.
Whether you’re cozying up for a summer movie night or looking for a convenient poolside snack, this pickle-packed ramen is ready in just five minutes. For the pickle-obsessed fans looking for an ultimate savory-sour snack remix, try pairing your dill noodles with a crunchy pickle spear to really turn up the tang this summer.
Nissin Foods has led the instant ramen category for almost seven decades, and the newest release joins the lineup of recent limited-edition flavor innovations. Just like its Cup Noodles predecessors–including Campfire S’mores, Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese, Breakfast, and Pumpkin Spice–the new pickle-flavored ramen pushes boundaries with fan-favorite flavor to satisfy millennials’ and Gen Z’s craving for bold, unconventional tastes.
And while pickles and noodles might not be my first thought (Shrimp Cup Noodles all the way), the pairing does make sense. Dill has dominated the snack aisle lately, from Spicy Dill Goldfish to pickle-flavored Lay’s potato chips.
Cup Noodles Dill Pickle will be available for purchase for a limited time online and in stores nationwide at Walmart, Albertsons, and more retailers beginning June 21. I got to try the new pickle-flavored Cup Noodles ahead of its release, and here’s my honest review.
My Honest Review of Cup Noodles’ Dill Pickle Ramen
I’m not exactly sure what I expected from pickle ramen, but I was shocked by the rather aggressive aroma that escaped the styrofoam cup once I peeled back the paper lid. Obviously, I was anticipating a whiff of pickle, but I quickly got a noseful of dill. Once I got past the sheer sensory overwhelm, though, I was stoked—the ramen smelled GOOD.
After four minutes in the microwave, it was time to taste the new pickle Cup Noodles. I was pleasantly surprised by how the dill scent dissipated in the microwave, and even more excited to taste it. Plus, there’s nothing like a perfectly-cooked cup of microwave ramen full of tender noodles.
At first bite, the ramen hit all the carb cravings. It was cozy, comforting, and had a delicate herb flavor—until the tang kicked in. I don’t know how, but beyond the dill flavor, Cup Noodles managed to ramen-ify the exact experience of pickle consumption, from flavor to tang. By the end of the bite, I almost forgot I was eating Cup Noodles. The pickle flavor is present through and through, and perfect for dill enthusiasts looking to add some extra punch to their microwave meals.
Like any good summer fling, this one’s fleeting, so be sure to get it while it lasts.
