Cheez-It Is Releasing an All-New Cracker Fans Have Waited Years For

Snacking is universal. No matter if you’re a kid, a grown-up, or even a Grammy Award-winning singer, you have a favorite snack. For many of us, that favorite snack is a Cheez-It. Which Cheez-It variety you choose, such as Extra Toasty, Grooves, a limited-edition flavor, or the classic original, however, might vary depending on the day. 

While so many of us love the taste of a Cheez-It cracker, there is a population of people out there who can’t partake in the cheesy, crunchy goodness due to a gluten allergy or dietary restriction.

Cheez-It crackers’ main ingredient, besides cheese, of course, is enriched flour, meaning people with celiac disease or those who are gluten free can’t enjoy them. For years, gluten-free fans have been begging Cheez-It to make a version safe for them to eat. And, after many, many pleas, Cheez-It is finally making it a reality.

Cheez-It Plans To Release New Gluten-Free Cheez-It Crackers

Cheez-It announced that it will release its first-ever Gluten-free Original Cheez-It crackers in 2026.

“It’s happening!!!! Cheez-It Original Gluten Free Crackers coming 2026,” the brand posted on Instagram.

While Cheez-It didn’t disclose any specific information, just the hidden date of XX/XX/2026, that didn’t stop fans from sharing their excitement.

“Best day of my life will be XX/XX/2026,” commented one Instagram user.

“Wow!! Best news ever,” wrote another. 

“Be prepared for us to clean these off the shelves,” another comment read.

Cheez-It told Allrecipes that after hearing from fans who have transitioned to a gluten-free diet and miss the crackers—as well as those who have never been able to try a Cheez-It before—the brand wanted to create a gluten-free cracker. It worked hard to develop a gluten-free recipe and process that gives the same Cheez-It flavor, but is safe for those with gluten intolerances.

The new crackers are certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization and are safe for those with celiac disease to consume. Cheez-It said the new Gluten-free Original Cheez-It crackers will hit shelves nationwide in 2026, with more details on availability to be provided closer to next year. 

We know it’s not much to go on, but gluten-free Cheez-Its are closer than they’ve ever been before.
