Dollar General Has the ‘Elite’ Candy You Should Be Stockpiling

This year, candy makers have already launched several new treats that are guaranteed to make the spooky season sweeter than ever. Mars brought back pumpkin pie-flavored M&M’s and resurrected the fan-favorite Twix Ghost shapes after years off shelves. Then, Kit Kat released the adorable vampire-shaped Counts, which, to be frank, might taste even better than the original bar.

And while we can never have enough chocolate, it’s good to keep a variety of candies on hand to satisfy all palates. Chewy Halloween mixes from Haribo and Sour Patch Kids are always a staple, and you can never go wrong with Twizzlers.

Now, a candy brand that one fan has called “elite” and others describe as “10 times better than Starburst“, has launched a fruity new mix—and it might end up being the highlight of your candy bowl.

Hi-Chew Launches Limited-Edition Mystery Mix

Hi-Chew

Just in time for Halloween, Hi-Chew is releasing a new Mystery Mix featuring some of the brand’s most popular variety bags. This is Hi-Chew’s first Halloween-themed mix since it launched the Sweet & Sour Mystery Mix in 2017.

The new limited-edition mix comes with a fresh batch of flavors, including Blue Raspberry from Fantasy Mix, Watermelon from Sweet & Sour Mix, and Candy Apple from Dessert Mix. Additionally, an all-new mystery flavor is being introduced. After tasting the new candy, fans can submit their flavor guesses on Hi-Chew’s website for a chance to win a $2,500 gift card to fund “a mystery adventure of their choice” and of course, plenty of free candy. The mystery flavor will be revealed on Halloween.

For those unfamiliar, Hi-Chew is known for its extra chewy confections. Each bite has two distinct layers, which are modeled after the sensation you experience when eating real fruit. “You feel strong freshness at the first bite. Then, you’ll sense spreading sweetness or sourness of the fruit’s flesh in your mouth. This is the taste experience that only Hi-Chew can offer thanks to its double layer,” states the website.

On Reddit, fans are having a blast guessing Hi-Chew’s mystery flavor. “I thought cherry limeade,” said one person. Another agreed, writing, “I’ve been trying to figure this out. Literally eating one now and I feel like cherry limeade is spot on! So good.”

“I’m guessing orange. I’ve had enough orange Starburst to know that flavor,” wrote one user. “Also, if you think about all the fruit flavors they have made for Hi-Chew, they have not made orange yet that I have seen.”

Other guesses included cherry cola, strawberry lemonade, lemon shortbread, and cranberry spice. The overall theme seems to be citrus, but we’ll have to wait until the big reveal to know for sure.

You can find the Hi-Chew Mystery Mix at retailers nationwide, including Dollar General, Five Below, Kroger, Target, and more–but only for a limited time. Be sure to grab a bag (or two!) and make your mystery flavor guesses before the secret is out.

My Honest Review of Hi-Chew’s New Mystery Mix

I recently tried the Hi-Chew Mystery Mix, and what caught my attention was the variety. Candy Apple was my favorite, but I enjoyed the flavors the brand chose for this launch, especially the inclusion of a sweet and sour one. If you like taffy but wish it had a more intense fruit flavor and lasted longer, then you’ll love these bite-sized chews.
