3 New Jaw-Dropping Potato Chip Flavors Are Hitting Shelves Now

Now that pumpkin spice season has officially begun, it’s time to start planning for all things fall. Yes, you can grab those pumpkin spice-scented dish soaps and candles and get an early crack at the Halloween candy, but all we’re really thinking about what we’re going to eat on the first football game day of the season.

As the first tailgate is rapidly approaching, we’re headed to the store for all our dips, sweets, and snacks that will propel us from the first kickoff to the final touchdown. One of those must-have items is chips—lots and lots of chips. We’re talking potato chips for dipping, tortilla chips for nachos, and plenty of flavored chips to satisfy every taste bud.

Football season hasn’t even started yet and we’ve already seen quite a few new chip flavors that deserve a spot at any tailgate. And, this year, they go way beyond just Ranch Fritos and Smoky Pringles (though, of course, we’ll be buying those, too). The ones that we’re most excited to try are the new flavors inspired by game day foods. 

Last week, Lay’s released its tailgate-inspired collection, complete with new Hot Sauce, Wavy Loaded Nachos, and Kettle Cooked Cheesy Buffalo Dip chips—and now it seems it has competition. Kroger just debuted a limited-edition Champion Chip Collection that’s filled with flavors even more unique than Lay’s.

Kroger Debuts New Champion Chip Collection

Kroger’s new potato chip collection includes Pigs in a Blanket, Mozzarella Sticks, and Buffalo Wing flavors.

Great minds think alike, as Kroger’s new Buffalo Wing rippled chip has a similar flavor profile to Lay’s Cheesy Buffalo Dip kettle-cooked chips. However, instead of adding the creamy, cheesy dip element, Kroger’s private label chips are all wing, providing the Frank’s RedHot-like heat without the saucy fingers. 

Kroger’s Mozzarella Sticks chips combine the cheesy, breaded flavor of a fried mozzarella stick with its fan-favorite dipping sauce, marinara. Lastly—and maybe the most jaw-dropping of all three flavors—Kroger’s Pigs in a Blanket potato chips pack a savory punch with a combo of beefy hot dog, buttery pastry, and just a hint of mustard.

Kroger’s new Champion Chip Collection is available exclusively at Kroger and Kroger-owned stores for a limited time. With flavors like these, you’re sure to be the talk of the tailgate.
